We came here because we have a visiting vegetarian, but we'll be back just because the food is so good and the prices reasonable. We started with hot and sour soup and wonton soup. Both were good. The broths do not have a meat stock, but were flavorful. The hot and sour had a slight sweetness, yet was hot (spicy) and was filled with tofu, mushrooms and other things. Really good soup. ($4) We also had two appetizers, the vegi duck and cilantro rolls (2 rolls for $6) and the crispy stuffed curry dumplings (6 for $7). Each was outstanding. The vegi-duck tasted just like duck - even in texture - and came with a rich plum sauce. The curry dumplings had a rich curry flavor, were well baked and delish. For entrees, we got the Spicy Tofu in Hot Pot (soft tofu, shiitake mushrooms, sliced gluten rolls in hot sauce), Kung Pao Chicken with Portabella Mushrooms and Green Peppers, and Crispy Sesame Beef with Walnuts. Each entree was $20. The Kung Pao and the Sesame Beef each were great. The entrees come with a portion of either white or brown rice - your choice included in the entree price. I was disappointed with the Spicy Tofu in Hot Pot. The menu says it is hot, and the server asked if it was ok that it was hot and I responded that it was. Honestly, the entree was only mildly spicy and with only the tofu, mushrooms and gluten, it was a bit boring. But that was my ordering. I'll order next time one of the "meat dishes," since the other two entrees were very good. It leaves me wondering how "spicy" the other spicy dishes on the menu are. I'll also try more of the appetizers. It's a nice, extensive menu. Service was very good. We felt truly welcomed and that our visit was appreciated. There was lots of food and lots of leftovers.
The food is consistently good. It's vegetarian, but if you didn't know it, you woud think it's real chicken, meat, etc. It's a cozy place, old style feel, where the the staff is friendly and the owner will remember you with a big "Welcome Back!" and wave. I keep coming back for their delicious food!
This is our go to place for vegetarian Chinese. The food is great and the people that work there are just lovely too - have been there for years.
Upgraded to five stars as consistently good. Some additions to my fave list Fried spring roll (pricey but I guess inflation) Carved & curled shitake with asparagus - the shitakes are something different String beans schezuan, with or without mushrooms Yellow bird with broccoli- a bit oily but something different, very good
It was our first time going... and let me tell you it won't be the last! The seating is intimate, but they have giant tables that can fit up to 10, and booths as well! They were very accommodating and gave us a highchair for our new little foodie. When they say everything is vegetarian.. they mean EVERYTHING! It was so refreshing to go somewhere and get anything you want, and still have amazing flavors! Nothing was too spicy or off.. I can't wait for us to try more dishes! And service was impeccable. The owners were both there: the husband cooks and wife was making sure all the guest enjoyed their experience!
